Pathways
Students with learning differences and their families deserve access to a Catholic secondary education with full support for their unique learning needs. The Pathways program at Bishop Stang High School is rooted in the Church’s mission to serve a diverse population and the belief that education should be accessible to all children.
About the Pathways Program
The Pathways Approach Program integrates and provides the necessary support for young people to flourish and thrive as they prepare to excel in learning and life as people of faith, integrity, knowledge, and service.
At Bishop Stang, students are supported in the classroom by having our Pathways educators present during classes so that they receive real-time support.
In-Classroom Support
Pathways educators work alongside content teachers to deliver real-time guidance and supportive accommodations.
Academic Support Classes
Dedicated study skills and support periods reinforce core course curriculums through small group and one-on-one instruction.
Individual Accommodation Plans
Custom plans built on individual testing and IEP goals are created for each student and reviewed by all content teachers.
Qualifications & Admissions
Students must qualify to receive services by submitting an application for acceptance. Applicants should present a diagnosis (evaluated within the last two years) in one of the following areas:
- Application Review: All applications are reviewed by the Assistant Principal of Academics, Director of Pathways Approach Program, and Director of School Counseling.
- Testing & IEPs: Relevant testing and accommodation plans must be submitted with the application. An active IEP is encouraged (though not required).
- Individual Fit: Each application is evaluated individually to determine fit and tailor support.
- ADD/ADHD Accommodations: Accommodations for ADD and ADHD are provided through the School Counseling Department.
Program Integration & IEP Services
Full Academic & Co-Curricular Integration
Students are fully integrated into campus life and placed in AP, Honors, Advanced College Prep, or College Prep courses according to ability. World Language graduation requirements may be waived if specified in evaluation/IEP.
Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Obtained through the student's public district of residence or Dartmouth Public Schools, an active IEP qualifies participants to receive additional federal proportionate share funding to supplement school support.
Pathways Approach Program Tuition
Members of the Pathways Approach Program for students with learning differences pay an additional fee of $5,000 annually in addition to standard tuition.
