Open House Opportunities:

If you were unable to attend Open House, please consider joining us for an in person campus tour with a current student. Admissions Office Staff will be available to answer questions about the application process. Contact the Admissions Office to schedule a tour, [email protected].
HSPT Placement Exam:
Bishop Stang uses placement exam results to assist in course level placement only. There is no pass/fail grade required for admission. Students interested in attending are encouraged to take the exam here as this ensures the results are sent directly back to Bishop Stang. Bishop Stang will offer the Scholastic Testing High School Placement Test (HSPT) in-person on campus on the following dates:
- Saturday, December 3, 2022; 8:00 am - 11:30 am. (arrive by 7:45 am)
Saturday, December 10, 2022; 8:00 am - 11:30 am. (arrive by 7:45 am)

Important Placement Exam Details:
- Testing accommodations such as extended time, allowed with documentation only. Please indicate the accommodation on the pre-registration form and submit supporting accommodation plan to Mrs. Dias 72 hours prior to the exam Nicole Dias @ 508-996-5602 x421 or [email protected].
- Students should only take this exam once.
- Father Mullaney Merit Scholarship: Students who take the HSPT through Bishop Stang High School are considered for the Father Mullaney Merit Scholarship, which awards $1000 toward freshman year tuition for the Top Ten scorers. If a student takes this exam a second time, only the lower of the two exam scores will qualify for the merit scholarship.
- Results of the exam will be forwarded to families in February.
- HSPT results will be promptly forwarded to other schools upon request (results generally arrive back to Bishop Stang in early January). Requests must be indicated on the pre-registration form or emailed to [email protected] Please include the school name and the Admissions contact information.
- Exam Fee: $20.00. Payable by cash or check on exam day.
- Calculators or similar devices are not allowed during the exam.
- Cell phones are allowed but must be powered off for the duration of the exam.
- Students will be provided with pencils.
- Results of the HSPT taken at other schools as well as results of the SSAT are acceptable. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that scores from exams not taken at Bishop Stang are submitted by deadline dates.
- Special note for Diocese of Fall River Catholic Schools and St. Philomena School students. All 8th graders at a DFRCS will take the Scholastic HSPT Placement Exam at their respective schools.
- Catholic schools in the Greater New Bedford area (All Saints Catholic School, St. Teresa of Calcutta School, St. Joseph School, St. Francis Xavier School) and St. Philomena School exam results are processed through Bishop Stang HS. Students from these schools do not pre-register or pay the exam fee.
- DFRCS applicants from other area schools, may forward their results to Bishop Stang High School to be considered for the Father Mullaney Merit Scholarship.
Accepted Student and Parent Night:
Wednesday, February 8; 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
All accepted students and their parents/guardians are invited to join us for a special event just for them. Families will be introduced to a number of members of our school community including Administration, Department Chairpersons, faculty, students and current parents. Each academic department will give a brief presentation highlighting the incoming freshman course options, course level placement criteria, as well as, the progression of skill development and future academic opportunities specific to the department.
Parents will have a chance to speak with current parents about important topics such as navigating carpooling and students will have a chance to socialize with future friends. Our hope is that all will leave with a solid understanding of the exceptional programs we provide our students here at Bishop Stang. Attendance is not necessary but is highly encouraged.
The Spartan School Store will be open from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
Registered Student and Parent Virtual Meeting:
Tuesday, March 14; 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
All students who are registered to join the Class of 2027 for 2023-2024 and their parents/guardians are invited to attend this VIRTUAL Meeting via Zoom. On this call, we'll take families through all the next steps in the enrollment process and discuss the course options available for freshmen. Students will start the process of selecting their World Language course, Performing Art course and Physical Activity credit options. Families will also be given access to the Family Portal, Enrollment Documents and the FACTS Tuition Management Program. Transportation and tuition payment options will be discussed, as well as dress code and Land's End uniforms. The Zoom link will be emailed directly to families prior to the event. The call will be recorded and posted after the event for those unable to attend.
