Thomas Marcotte is a senior from New Bedford, MA, and attended St. Francis Xavier School in Acushnet, MA. Tom was a recipient of the College of the Holy Cross Book Award in his junior year, and ranked # 5 in his class entering his senior year. Tom is a member of the school’s National Honor Society chapter, a member of the Trivia Club, Campus Ministry, and was a retreat leader for this year’s Freshman Retreat.
Tom is a four-year member of the varsity hockey and lacrosse teams. He also joined the varsity golf team his junior year, becoming a three sport athlete for the last two years of high school. The hockey team won the EAC Championship in his sophomore year. The golf team earned a third place finish in the MIAA Division 3 State Championship this past fall.
Tom is applying to a number of schools, including Duke University and Penn State University, for engineering. At each school he’s applied to, Tom hopes to pursue Navy ROTC and commission as a Naval Officer after his college education. Tom has also applied for appointment to the United States Naval Academy.
Tom has committed extensive time working with Mr. Ouellette to build the beautiful sets for Bishop Stang Theatre Company’s fall play each year and also assists in building the setpiece for the promenade ceremony in the spring.
About his Bishop Stang experience, Tom commented: “Bishop Stang has provided me with everything I need to approach any opportunity I want to pursue. The teachers are fun and engaging, the coaches are knowledgeable and talented, and the school community is inclusive and warm. Everyone is always so nice, and people share in all sorts of different experiences. Stang is like a second home for me.”
