Kate Downey

Kate Downey is a senior from Mattapoisett, MA who attended ORR Junior High School.  Kate is an excellent student who entered her senior year number one in the Class of 2020.  She is a National Merit Scholar Commended Student and won the Harvard Book Award as a Junior. 

Kate is the NHS Secretary and part of the Green Team, Debate & Forensics, Peer Mentors, Trivia Team and Coding Club.  Kate is also a varsity athlete in Field Hockey, Indoor Track and Lacrosse.  As a Junior, she earned EAC All-Star awards in Field Hockey and Lacrosse. 

Outside of Bishop Stang, Kate volunteers with My Brother's Keeper and the Buzzards Bay Coalition. She also works at the Mattapoisett Track Club in the summer.

Kate plans to study environmental engineering and economics in college, and has applied to colleges such as Boston College, Notre Dame, UMASS Amherst, and Dartmouth College. 

Kate commented about her Bishop Stang experience: "Stang is a supportive community that encourages all students to work towards success. My dedicated teachers, incredible guidance department, and amazing friends  have helped to enrich my high school experience and prepare me for my future."
