The Standard-Times 2019-20 Boys Indoor Track and Field Super Team and All-Stars

SUPER TEAMJacob Cookinham, Bishop Stang, Freshman

Cookinham made quite the debut as he reached All-States as a freshman shot putter. He went from throwing 42 feet at the Eastern Athletic Conference meet to 48-8 at the Div. 5 championship to finish fifth and qualify for All-States. The EAC All-Star threw 47 feet at All-States. “His 48-8 was incredible,” said Bishop Stang coach Steve McGonigle. “He’s got great speed in the circle and great strength. He has one of the top throws in the nation as a freshman.” The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Cookinham also won the shot put at the Janiak Freshman/Sophomore meet.

ALL STAR - Aidan O’Malley, Bishop Stang, Junior

O’Malley, an Eastern Athletic Conference All-Star, battled through nagging injuries to go undefeated in the mile and two-mile during the regular season. He went on to run a 4:37 mile, which was good enough for fourth place at the Div. 5 meet, just missing out on a spot at All-States. His best 600 was a 1:37.

HONORABLE MENTION:  Logan Brierley, Senior;  Andrew Fortin, Freshman;  Malik Magnuson, Junior
